Yes I can can do certian things. Like change my tires, oils changes, rotatoins, change brakes/pads/discs, filters and spark plugs. My dad was an auto mechanic at one time and he showed me how to do a lot so I never had to pay money to have my car "fixed".

Yes, I can fix practically anything that goes wrong on my vehicles. Granted, being a mechanic is not my profession or line of work, but I learned how to fix my vehicles because I didn’t want to pay someone to do it for me. I do anything from oil change to a complete engine overhaul, you name it.

Well it's ALWAYS good to know how to do the little basic maintenances (add oil, water, know how to air up your tires)...especially for women. Then we can just see if the mechanic is good looking before we decide to do it ourselves or ask for help! That's what I do. If he's good looking, I ask if he can air up my tires. If he's a little shabby, I just ask for an air hose! Unfortunately, some guys are impressed by even that. I can do some things on the car..oil change, air filter, fuses, light bulbs. Even when I can't fix it, I usually understand what's going wrong or good chance of it. I can change a tire if I have to but I carry auto club instead & let them do it. Now on my bike I've been a little more adventurous. I've taken the carb off & replaced the intake manifold & o rings, replaced clutch cable, replaced all fuel lines, taken front tire off, taken rear tire off & changed brake shoes, replaced chain, replaced headlight bulb, changed oil & filter & air filter. I understand basic mechanical principles and I have fun doing it with, of course, a sense of accomplishment when I get the job done. And then I can brag about it to my guy friends who don't know jack about cars!! WooHooo! GIRL POWER!!
