What are those variuos star colors beside the usernames and numbers in them?

I have been wondering for some time now about the stars that most of you Mylotters have beside your usernames.
Could anyone explain too me how do you get those stars? How long did you take to get the first star?
What are the difference between the colors, is it superiority?
What privileges do you have with different star colors?
And I notice the numbers in the stars, what do they represent?
I know I have long way still to reach the stars but I can start hoping one day..

Stars are reputation at mylot, the higher the star the better the rep.
You will get your star at 100 posts, the rep is between you and other mylotters... ;)

Hie Darkdancer, thank you for the response. You must be very proud to have a star. Guess in order to have one I have to build my reputation too beside maintaining it.
So I will have to work really hard and keep on posting.
