Do you give credit to your template designer?

I am blogging for quite some time. Earlier i was on blogger and very recently shifted to wordpress. I am using a beautiful template designed by justin tadlock. Meanwhile I have seen that lot of bloggers remove the name of template designers from their blog. I have even seen a lot of discussions about "how to remove author's name (in case it is encrypted) from template?". Do you feel this is fair on part of designer who is providing you template for free. Its like taking somebody's credit away from him.

I always give credit where credit is due. I had a layout on my neopets userpage before they changed the layouts to this new version and I gave credit to the person who made it for me right at the top of the page.

Well, as a web designer especially when I made a free wordpress theme for my visitors, it's required to credit me as the template designer. They're not allowed to delete the credits part since it just shows appreciation especially to me, the template designer. I coded it from scratch and make a graphics for a layout I don't want to waste my time making those themes without crediting me. You have to report this stuff to the template designer since bloggers were trying to delete the authors / credit part.

There is a reason why template designers allow their work to be used for free and that is to get the word out that they designed the templates. I always use free templates designed by other people and I never remove the credits to them. It might be breaking the law to do so but apart from that, I really want to show my appreciation to the designer to have his or her link intact so people can find them.
