Have you ever seen first hand, abuse in nursing homes? What did you do about it? How did it make you feel? How would your reaction be different if your family member or loved one was the victim of such horrible and cruel treatment?

This type of abuse rattles my cage. Our defenseless, our weakest, our most vulnerable, children and our elderly, must be protected from abuse. What a sameful condition of mankind. I am thankful for agencies that monitor, for caring homes that provide loving and protective services, and for discussions like this that voice the plight of a nation's elderly.

The career I am pursuing is involved in dealing with the elderly, and I can say that I would 100% report and follow-up on any instance of elderly abuse. I would do whatever was needed to rectify the situation whether it was re-educating those involved or having them dismissed from their duties. This is not something I take lightly, nor would I ever turn a blind eye to it. Thank god I have only come across it once...

At one point in time, I was a housekeeper at a nursing home. I witnessed one of the CNA's feeding a resident. I wanted to take the spoon from the CNA's hand and feed the resident myself because she was feeding her to fast. We check on our family members. You know, suprise the staff.
