Charged an i-pod touch with a nokia battery. How?

I heard ths from my friend once. At school, one of his friends' i-pod ran out of power. Then he had taken out his nokia battery and connected to his i pod, pulling out a live wire from the i-pod and in about 15 seconds the battery indication came to full.
Could anyone explain me how he did it?

So he actually connected the nokia battery to the iPod, he didn't charge the iPod battery with the nolia battery?
