well friends it is not about any competition. nor i am going to announce any rewards for anyone who has the biggest bill to prove his claim of maximum usage.it is about the recent research the latest conducted in one of the leading universities about the ill effects the use of mobile phone can have . it can even lead to impotency...as more of the news is coming out. how much do you agree with the situation?

I'm not trying to discredit the study or anything... I'm sure the people who are conducting these tests are professionals & they have their reasons to believe the reports they put out... That being said, I started using a cell. phone when I was 18... I'm 37 now so I'm going on my 20th year using a cell. phone... Granted that back then, I didn't use the cell. phone as much as I do now but I used to work for a place that sold cell. phones & because of it, I got discounts on monthly bills... So naturally my bill wasn't as big as others... Well, I have a daughter... She just turned 8... So, I've been using cell. phone close to 12 years when she was born... I don't have any medical condition I didn't have before I was 18... Doctor tells me I've gained some weight in past 8 month but I don't think that has anything to do with use of cell. phone... I think we need to see those "reports" or news with bit of grain of salt... Sometimes doctors & media tend to be little over the top with certain topics & the position that they're in, I can even understand sometimes...

I completely agree... Being exposed to electro magnetic radiation can't be good for human body, after all, they say for a pregnant women to avoid being with in certain distance from microwave, they make you ware lead apron when taking x-rays in certain position, they did that when they were taking x-ray of my wrist when I broke it... There's no doubt about that... I'm not questioning their professionalism in what they find as far as the affect of those type of radiations... What I'm curious about is at what dosage are we at risk? Most of the cell. phones now a days put out no more than few milliwatts of power... Not much more than the magnetics in head phones or ear phones we ware to listen to music... Most, if not all, of the head phones & earphones have magnets in it with power supply attatched to them... If you apply a power source to any type of magnets, they'll give off some sort of electro magnetic radiations... Not to mention the super fast bullet train in Japan that's in use today... It is propelled by basically magnets installed in both rails & the body... People are basically riding on one giant magnet... Those who ride it at least twice a day, way to & from work... I believe that with proper shielding with the dosage they put out, depending on the device, we are safe... I understand that after all, all these are man made... There will be some defective products & certain amount of people will suffer because of it but in general, as in mass population, we're no more in danger than we are from elevator crashing...

wonderful. the study is frm jnu new delhi. well i dont know whether you are aware of the news that made serious headlines. loss of lives because of explosions of mobile phones due to faulty nokia batteries in india.we lost not less than 60-70 people in such explosions happening in all corners and places during the last 1-2 years itself. well that is different. undoubtedly the use of electro magnetic radiations has its effect on human bodies that is a forgone established fact.well i am not for or against using mobile phones . it is all about the ill effects, we must be more cautious.

My cell phone is just an ordinary cell phone,it does what I need it to do send and receive calls, except I do not use my cell phone that much, because I only turn it on when me and my fiance leave the house, which is not that often.

Yeah I agree we are always suffering from radiation off of the cell phone towers, and it is really alarming, because we never know how bad the radiation is going to effect us.

hello hellcowboy welcome to this discussion. the extent of use and the damage to our body or systems is definitely having a direct relation.lesser the use less is going to be the exposure. but the alarming situation is that we are surrounded by the radiation coming out of the towers like a fish in the ocean.

well hellcowboy we can not move out of this ocean of radiations . whether we like it or not, use the phone or not, we will remain in this pool.

my friends always tease me that i am considered as one of the laziest mobile phone users on earth. which is actually, true. i do have a pretty phone but don't have the addiction anymore compared years and years ago. i just use it in case of emergency or when someone calls. i rarely use it for texting. i am too lazy to do that... or maybe i just think that there are lots of more important thing to do than just pushing those lettered pads. anyway, thanks for the warning! anne

very good.i know some people, who breathe less and use more mobile simply sticking the phone and using it for hours together.unmindful of the ill effects it has got on our body. undoubtedly it is a useful thing but we must know to weigh the dangers it can bring to our lives.

you're right. it's very useful for everyone. however, people tend to get really addicted to it at some point in time. that's where danger drops in.

yeah it works like slow poison.gradually you tend to become casual. they say when you bring your mobile phone near your computer the screen starts behaving differently and so some people advise that it should not be kept in your shirts pocket. its sudden activation may have similar sort of effect on the heart, but soon we forget about it and just put in the pocket.

yeah I read something like this about mobiles, I think it has a lot of side effect and the more you use the more damage you get, I use one mobile , not frequently. I think using mobile is important sometimes, but not all the time, you can find alternative , use land line or something like this.

well it is being humble of you. it is not actually the usage alone.since the radiations are all over the place. since the towers are continuously in touch with the phones thru these radiations. well of course when we put the system to use the radiations concentration and its effect on our body gets enhanced.any way e must br careful

Not that much.I guess cell phones are for entrepreneurs, geeks and the like.I only use my cell phone to followup orders, check on my daughter, check on my wife and to greet people on special days.I guess it is about being frugal and economical considering the amount of spending involved in the cell phone usage.I think I agree that side effects really exist as researches claimed.Awareness is encouraged.

im using sony ericsson right now. i just don't get how can mobile phones affect our bodies. i don't think the signal that our phones get is dangerous enough to harm us.. but if ever, for sure the mobile companies would do something about it to help us their consumers!

dear chechva you are so simple. have you heard or ever come across x rays.the same ray being useful which can give us a photo of the inside of our body is only radiation (ray). and if the body is exposed to xrays for longer duration, it can burn our tissues !in radiotherapy they use radiations to kill the cancerous cells. and ultimately it is the overexposure which is going to be harmful

hi kushank . this is very disturbing news. i can understand that some kind of radiations are continuously being emitted from the towers and thats how the cell phone remains in contact with the tower, but how dangerous they are i can say. at one time we heard that the can cause cancer and loss of memory to the human beings and there were a explosions too because of faulty batteries and a few people lost their lives. well it is indispensable device ,well then what is the alternative?

absolutely true. well any thing which has gone into mass use can be so destructive is a great question . but it has proved its utility . no doubt about it.at the same time if it is so dangerous , one can not avoid it, but learn to use it judiciously.
