Where do you get your inspiration to write?

From music? From media? Or is something purely concocted from your own imagination?

I usually get my inspiration from my own imagination, yet there have been several times that I got my inspiration from things that have happened in my life. I once wrote a great story about a camp councelor after spending a week at Boy Scout Camp. LOL

I try to keep a running list of things that pop up throughout the day that might be interesting. I keep them all in a file on my computer and when I feel like writing I look through them, do a little research, and get creative.

Usually my good ideas happen when i'm busy cleaning or driving. Sounds strange, but something that requires little thought allows me to use my imagination. Of course, driving can be a bit dangerous that way. haha So, mostly when I'm working at home is when the ideas start popping.

I got my inspiration for this poem from Dale Earnhardt.. "Talking To Dale" I close my eyes and I see you there. Your big and strong, this isn't fair. I remember how you used to drive. I wish you were here, you were still alive. You ment so much to so many fans. We all know you must have had big plans. Jr. was up and coming along. He was doing good, he was looking strong. Now he is working as hard as he can. I'm happy to say i'm such a big fan. I know looking down you must be proud. Jr. seems good, he's not in a cloud. Thank You for being a wonderful man. I'll keep you in my heart and always be a fan.

Usually from my feelings, although I'll often abstract it a fair amount. Sometimes from musings... occasionally from poetry or music (yes, those stir up feelings but the odd time it will do so in a way that isn't separable from the song... and thus they both become a part of the writing).

From my college professors that tell me what to write. I work at home part time, go to college full time, and have three children that do sports and etc. So, my days of writing about whatever my mind leads me to are gone for awhile.

Sometimes that works and sometimes we have to originate the idea.

It has to be from real life experiences. I don't think you can really have a reader convinced or believing you unless you believe it yourself.

Where do you get your inspiration to write? By Dana C. L. "DNatureofDTrain" I get my inspirations to write, from experiences, both dark and light. Throught thoughts and feelings night or day, The I need to express, or a message to say. Anything anywhere can inspire a poem, Strangers, Animals, my own feelings, my home. Places, people, and things around me, All have a message and sometimes it dumbfounds me. A Blade of grass, a cloud in the sky, A Spirit in my ear, a tear in someone's eye. I find my inspiration from all around me, up and down and even inside me. I find it through the good and bad, and also through times glad and sad. I find it through helping others, and listening watch the drifting of a soft down feather. Most of my inspiration comes through the experiences and times, but much of it is inspired by the divine. I get my writing inspiration from many places, Many friends many people, many of lifes traces. Thank you for asking the question you wrote, as see how the inspiration just, produce this note. - (c) 2006 DNatureofDTrain

Unfortunity right now I seem to be getting very little inspiration from anything. I need some inspiration but my mind seems to be getting in the way.
