Food is one of the first things most people remember. First food comes from the mother or bottle. And, afterwards from the dinner table, usually prepared by mom or grandmother. Or, dad on the rare occasion. It's the source of life, without which we would all perish. And, the memory of good tasting food goes with us, much the same way that good times with family lingers in our hearts. We think of the best foods we've ever eaten and associate them with happy times. One of my first memories of food is cinnamon oatmeal. Or, maybe it was cream of wheat. It tasted like syrup, so I think that must have been in there too. It was so yummy. Later, I remember a church picnic (when I was about six years old). It was potluck, so everyone brought a dish. I can still remember how yummy the fried chicken and mustard potato salad was. I've been a big fan of both foods, ever since. What are your first memories of food? What's the first food you remember eating?

I was adopted from South Korea and brought over to the US when I was a little over one. My family tells me all I ate when I first got here was french fries from McDonalds... not too healthy, true (smile). But that's what they tell me. I guess that love never left me as I do crave a nice batch of McDonalds french fries every now and then...try not to give into that craving too often, but sometimes I just have to indulge.
