I watch the news last night and I was surprise to know that a 41 year old woman has gave birth to a 12.7 pounds baby. Take note it's in normal delivery section and she just gave birth in a lying in clinic. My God! I was really surprise to know about that. I just gave birth on a 6.7 lbs normal delivery and it is really painful. I can't imagine if I can do what that lady do. I would have chosen to be in a ceasarian section if I would know that my baby will weigh that much.

I guess at 41 the body has more stretch to it maybe? - that is a HUGE baby though! My daughter was 8lb 5oz, although i had an elective caesarean (due to my own medical issues) but although they can give you an idea of the baby's size i don't think they can actually let you know HOW big the baby is going to be before it comes out. I was pretty big with my daughter & once they had her out they said - it's a girl, she could've come out sooner (she was kind of purple & over cooked) & then they added wow, she's a pretty big one! I don't think anyone expected her to actually be that size when she came out, including the Dr's!

Wow that's big. 41 years old mom its not impossible but she's lucky to gave birth with a healthy baby and knowing that it's a normal spontaneous delivery its great. Well, its optional maybe the mother has a financial problem that's why she prefer Normal delivery or the doctor said she can gave birth Normal and there will be no problem.

Yeah the mom is so great and so lucky that she surpassed the delivery and had a bouncing baby. Some say that if you are on your 40's you are belong to a high risk pregnancy.Sad to say, the mother did not undergo any ultrasound examination that's why the midwife didn't know that the baby is that huge. And as the midwife said, if she learned that the baby is big she will forced the mother to have a c-section.

Ayessa, Congratulation, was it a boy or girl? How long ago? Babies hurt most the time, the stories in movies, I feel just touches the tip of the iceberg when we talk pain,in actual childbirth. Good luck with your new bundle.

i also watched the news ayessa and of course we are so shocked about it! imagine the baby is almost the size of a 3-4 month old.oh i can't really imagine the labor pain of the mom and i salute her for being so tough.the midwife is so intelligent enough to deliver such a huge baby.

Wow! That was a big baby!! I would think I would need a c-section also. But everyone is different some people can deliver big babies with no problem. I have a friend who delievered in January of this year 9lbs without having to cut her. Me personaly I had a baby in May and he was 7.5lbs and I tore...that was really painful itself. I guess it all depends on the mother's hips.

That poor lady. I feel very sorry for her that she had a normal delivery with a baby that big! I have all c-sections myself and my kids were all from 7 lbs 8 oz. to 9 lbs. 2 oz. so I really can appreciate what she must have gone through. I am 41 years old too and it is harder the older you get. I had my last one at 38 years old. I know the doctors would have told me c-section, I wonder why they let her deliver one that large?

OMG that is massive, I gave birth to my third child 4 months ago and she was 8.6lbs and I thought that was painful enough. That is torture, you think the doctors would have been able to tell she was going to have a big baby, they should have insisted she have a c section.
