My favourite philosopher, and the individual that had the strongest effect on me, is Ayn Rand. Until I came across her book "The Fountainhead," I was not interested in philosophy at all, and had vague or no opinions on anything. I researched her philosophy in depth, and started to disagree with parts of it after two years of discovering what other ideas were out there. I still appreciate her philosophy of Objectivism the most, and probably always will- since if I had not discovered it, I would be a much different person today. I loved the ideas of individuals being powerful/ responsible, and happiness being the purpose of one's life. I also enjoyed the economic ideas of a free market. In a fundamental way, discovering her philosophy introduced me to thinking for myself and learning how to think logically.

it's nice to hear that some people still find authors and books that modify the way they see things... that's how things should be...

I don't think Ayn Rand really cuts it as a philosopher but if she has stimulated your interest I hope it will lead you to read some of the better philosophers, Aristotle is the best place to start all the best urban
