I heard about the bill HR 676 which is a bill requiring America to provide health care to it's legal residents. It caught my attention and I read through it. It's a very simple and short bill (compared to others I've read) with provisions for helping former health care provider employees find new work, a budget, and a relative time frame or it's emplementation. I believe it's a good plan to have all Americans provided for and would improve the life expectancy and quality of life here in the US. What do you think? Should we have universal health care? Why or why not? (especially the why not because I'd like to learn other views)

I think that we should have universal health care. I am sick of medical treatments being mandated by private insurance companies who are just out to make money. It is also impossible to live in this country without health insurance, which I don't feel is right. Everyone should be provided with equal healthcare regardless of income.

I agree with you totally! The insurance companies and the pharmacuetical companies are making a killing. You can't afford NOT to have insurance and you can't afford TO have insurance. Either way you're screwed! Somebody needs to get this country on track.

I live in UK and we have free health care here. It's funded by National Health Insurance which everyone has taken off their salary along with taxes. We have free dental care, opticians, hospitals and doctors. There are charges for prescriptions from the pharmacy but if you don't have money, you can get it free. If it works here, it could work in US on a state by state basis.

I think there should be universal health care if it works for other countries why can't it work here? because people are greedy here and only care about themselves. Something needs to be done about these insurance companies and pre existing conditions clauses. People have insurance and are still dying because there policy won't cover a prior medical condition and they can't afford the thousands of dollars for an operation. It's a shame that this is even allowed to happen in America.
