So when I rented Pan's Labyrinth the other night I got to get another movie for free. So I rented Mission Impossible III. I know, I know, a lot of you can't stand Tom Cruise anymore. Well I had seen the other two, so I wanted to watch the third. Besides, once the movie starts I don't really think about the actor's private life. Anyway it was a really good movie, better than the previous two. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it, and think this is my favorite action movie in quite a while. Of course I haven't seen that many movies lately. What is currently your favorite "action" type movie? Your favorite action adventure?

Well, yesterday I watched "Blade Runner" on my laptop and I must say that it was a damn good movie... although quite short. It still was way better than any other action movie I had pleasure (or not) to watch in a while. I don't like Mission Impossible II and III. I think it's just too shallow for me. First part was quite good.

Believe me, I don't watch action movies for depth.

My favourite at the moment would be National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets. I have seen and enjoyed all 3 Mission Impossible movies and would not mind see the old TV series again too.

Was the sequel to Nation Treasure as good as the first?

Hi Spookybutt, It's hard to pick a favorite action or adventure movie, seeing as there's so many of them about. But I'd have to guess between the second of the Terminator series, or one of the Tomb Raider movies, if pressed to make a choice. Mainly because Lara Croft is just so damn hot (woohoo!) - almost as hot as Hillary Clinton (double woohoo!). Some action movies are quite spectacular with an engaging story line, but they fall short for one reason or another. The movie Troy, for example, was cinematically brilliant, and very well cast, but the story is just so futile that it makes you wonder what the point of it all was. Another film which was right up there in my opinion was Aliens vs Predator, but IMO the thing which let it down was a suitable music track in the final battle sequence. If ONLY they had played Van Halen's "Jump" during that last fight, it would have been perfect! Another brilliant piece of work was Armageddon, with Bruce Willis and his oil rig crew. An exciting, thrill-bound, awe-inspiring adventure to save the world and break hearts along the way. And a total contrast to that other failed attempt to portray precisely the same story, Deep Impact. Have you noticed how the movies often come out with TWO of the same story by different producers at the same time? Armageddon and Deep Impact was one example of that, and there are DOZENS of others. There were two haunted house films came out at the same time, two vampire films, two animated ant films, and on and on it goes. One Lara Croft films at a time is quite enough, though - there's enough inspiration in there for two films anyway...

Hi Terry! Hope you are feeling better again today. If you do ever decide to rent a Mission Impossible movie, I recommend skipping the first one, and going ahead to the other two. Hope you find a movie you like. I like movies like these for escapism!

I can't stand Tom Cruise now. He is just so full of himself! Anyone would think he was GOD the way he acts and tries to control the lives of those around him. Sorry, just my opinion, though he is a very talented actor. I like psychological thrillers, and yes, many are action movies of sorts too. They get the mind racing and the heartpumping, so are all good for me!
