Are cellphones here to stay?

I remember the days before cellphones when pagers are in. You strap it on your waist and read messages that were filtered by a telephone operator. Will cellphones suffer the same fate as that of the pagers?

i guess it will take long enough before it will happen to cellphones, since there are still many innovation that can be done.
