problems with newsgator

I'm kinda new at the whole blogging thing but can anyone give me advice on issues with NewsGator? When I log in and it takes me to my homepage everything freezes up. I can't even access the help setting. Since Newsgator doesn't support their freeware and their FAQ's are lacking, I'm stuck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
