My sister had back surgery

My sister just recently had to have back surgery. One of her vertebrae was pinching a nerve and causing her to lose the use of her arm. They went in through her neck and removed the bad vertebrae and replaced it with bone from somewhere else. She has six weeks now that she is not supposed to do anything. I really hope she does take it easy. Back surgery is nothing to play around with! I've asked her to do what her doctors tell her, but she is very stubborn. Anybody here know anyone who's had back surgery?

Yes, I do know about back surgury. I had 4 on my lower bac, and have been disabled for 22 years because of it.I also had this same surgury your sister-in-law had in 1984.They took a bone from my hip and but it in my neck. This surgury was the easiest that I ever went through, I regained the use of my arm, the worst part for me was my hip healing up, at times i still can not lay on it.Good luck toyour sister-in-law..

Thank you sunkissed. My sister is only 39 years old, so I sure hope she does what her doctors say and takes care of herself. Hopefully she has alot of years left and I'd hate for her to be in pain for all of them. I'm sorry you are disabled because of your back problems.

Well I was 34 when I had this surgury also, so I am sure she will do just fine. God Bless.

I'm sorry you had to have surgery so young. I had to have a hysterectomy at age 30 because of fibroid tumors. It wasn't anything that left me disabled, but it isn't something most 30 year olds have to have.

I was offered an op but I declined as it ment 3 months without moving and 5 months before I could even think of driving? That is if the op was succcesful? Your sister MUST do as they say or she will be in a lot of pain and might undo the good they have done!

That's what I told her. She had injections before considering surgery, but they weren't successful.
