I hosted my first family get together at my new house!

In my family, my sister or my parents always was the one that hosted the get togethers. My house was always too far away. But, since I've moved closer than normal, my sister called me up and asked if I wanted to have the Father's Day get together at my new house. For a brief second, I panicked...people...at MY house? "SURE!" I told her. The several days before, we cleaned and got the place ready and it turned out better than I thought. Was your first time hosting a party at your house a success or a disaster?

I have had two birthday parties at my home for my twins. Their first birthday party and their second. My home is about 1900 sq ft and I was able to pull it off because I have a big family room and big backyard. So, guests were able to roam around the family room, living room and backyard. I think it is fun having guests over, we just order pizza or BBQ~

Imagine the fun you'll have when they definately have their own taste. What will you do then? Will you have half the cake decorated with "Strawberry Shortcake" and the other with "Spiderman"?

Well, I think hosting a party is always fun.I have done it a zillions of time. However, for the first time, I was anxious. I am a food fanatic. Only thing I was worried about was the 'Ghee-roasted-beef',which was about to be finished without my eating that. That was a big party,so we didn't have dinner all together. Guests had first and then hosts. I mean guests had all and hosts had none. :( It was a success though. A lesson too, keep food in excess.

Since my sister was the main planner, we were NOT in danger of ever running out of food. Hehehe...she too has your idea.

woww... that's great... it is always nice when you can organised a family reunion in your house... especially a new house... you must be very happy especially it turns out to be a success... i never organise a family reunion in my house yet as we live far apart... i live in australia and my parents and family live in my home country, Indonesia... so it is a bit hard to do that... i would like to do that one day though when all my family members come here for a holiday... take care and have a nice day...

Ah, that's sad. When my father was trying to convince me to move closer, he said it saddened him to realize how old he's getting and his family are so far spread about the country. To be honest, I was thinking of moving to Florida, but after he told me that, I changed my mind. I'm glad, too.

Hello there, I like to organize parties or get-together events occasionally. So there are at least 4 or 5 big events a year. The next one will be in 2 months time as we want to warm up the new off-plan house we bought 10 months ago. I like to see friends and relatives around to have good food and drink, have fun together. The first time I hosted a party at my house was 5 years ago, obviously it was a great success. LOL

congratulations! your house party sounds really great! and that you had so much fun! i had been hosting a lot of house parties since i graduated college. i was the eldest child in the family so after graduating they used to ask me to arrange family parties and events. anyway they said they trust me on this matter. so i did very well as i could. and luckily i think all of the parties i held were good. everyone had fun, they were very satisfied with the food and the entertainments. good we had skills like this!

Heh...the reasons my sister was the one that hosted them was not only was she the oldest, she had the much nicer house, a husband that could cook AND she herself used to work for baquets at resorts and stuff. Plus, she's an awesome cook.

now that you have an experience you can go ahead with many more celebrations in days to come. it is definitely easier to visit an invitation , comment on the things good or bad, but when you organise something you gain a lot, and you are richer. as in this celebration. the satisfaction that you get, makes you learn many a new thing and earn appreciation from the invitees.

Thank you for your words of wisdom. We did learn and gain something. We found out my 16 year old nephew makes the BEST grilled hamburgers, even if it was his first time.

That was nice of you to have the family get together at your house for father's day. I know it can be panicking for you have to make everything presentable for the guests. It sounds like everything went good and you had fun that is the main thing. I have had a get together at my place a couple of times but it wasn't for family but my friends I went to high school with and to get everything presentable was easy for all I really had to do was a touch up for I keep up w/ all my cleaning everyday. But the time was great w/ my friends and I hope to do it again sometime.
