Do you get pay hike in your company in same month each year. Offcourse provided you are in the same company. If so, i think it should be same time atleast. I am in same company a slast year. last year they let us know about salary increment by this time. this year there is no news.Even the manager say he does not know. I am thinking what should I do? should I change the job? Or should I see what happens?

with my husband's retirement pay if there is to be a COLA (cost of living) increase it occurs usually in January... we look forward each year to see how much difference there is going to be. Since you already have some time to your credit at your place of employment I think I would wait a little while and see what happens... job security could be difficult to come by if you switch companies.

Now I am a businessman and hence the pay hike question does not arise. But when I was working, I used to get the hike in the month of April, so that they can include the extra expenses in new year accounts (accounting year in India is Apr to Mar. In some places it is called increments. I was an employer having employed more than 50 persons in distribution network (1990-2006) and during this period I used to give the hike only in the month of Dussera.

Yes we get pay rises at the same time each year in our company - which is basically on the anniversary of your starting date. I started in July and will get my 2nd pay rise since I've joined next month. I've worked in companies where they give you a pay rise on the same date for all employees such as the start or end of the financial year or from 1st January or something like that. I do prefer the anniversary pay rise though as it marks your years of service and we have a full performance review every year so the pay rise ties in nicely with that. I can't remember the last time I worked somewhere where they did not at least give an inflation rate pay rise so I would be concerned if I were you but on the other hand, do make sure you find another job before you leave this one (of course I'm sure you would be sensible enough to do that without me telling you that) :) Good luck hun. x

I work in a Central Government office, and as said by you, i get my regular increments every year by the month of October every year. No problems in it, the employer can't have any control on it, unless some very bad reports are against our name. I suggest that you better stay in the company for some more time, and wait for the increment. But make sure, friend, if your boss, for no reasons is withholding the increment, that is due for your honest and sincere efforts that you had given for the growth of the company.. then you please do change over. What use is to stay long in the same company, with the cost of living increased, nearly five times that of the last year... in India..

Its purely based on the company policy.. and the people in the top level can able to change the policy at their own convenient at any time.. But as for as myself is concern, i dont have any problem, because i have been reported to my boss, who is the director of the south india, so, he will diretly place the increment to me, based on the performance appraisal, infact the appraisal also made by my boss only for me.. Here in my office, we used to place the Appraisal form to the Departmental head in the January itself, it will come back to us in total, at the april end.. after giving them the several reminders.. Then my boss will take 1 month time to over view that, and approve the same, then it will be forward to our head office, it will come back from our head office with in a week time, at present all the revisions are in my table only, since the HR manager is on leave, the papers are pending with me, once he comes he will process the saem for the increment, hopefully it will be effected for this month, else, we will get the arrear in the next month.. Thanks for the discussions. to share my view..
