lol Does anyone on mylot have a Car that runs off vegetable oil, instead of gasoline? I'm very interested in the idea of converting a car, but I've never met anyone that actually has a car that runs off this alternative fuel. If anyone does have a car like this, Does the car run the same as it would off gas? Are there any "side-effects" from converting your car? How much does did it cost? How long did it take to convert the car?

I don't have one, but I've seen several people and articles where vegetable oils and other recycled biomass type fuels have been used. France and Germany have buses designed to run on recycled restaurant fats and greases for example. Its more about getting the right consistency in the substitute fuel as a hydrocarbon and on the other end getting the engine to accept the unique fuels. http://www.wd.gc.ca/rpts/research/biodiesel/default_e.asp
