There is a quaint little park i visit sometimes. Down at a waterfront pier with gazebos and benches along it. In the water the ducks swim and play, swans glide around and fish can be spotted from time to time. It's a great little place....one of my favourites. Except for the litter. There is alot of it, definitely way more than their should be in a place meant to be apriciated and enjoyed by everyone. Is there any justification for littering especially when garbage cans are nearly everywhere and garbage collection is a weekly occurance free of cost?

Yeah...I don't get it. What is the deal with littering? I don't litter and honestly feel angry with the ones that do. I run on the track at the local high school and I have to walk quite a ways through the campus to get to it. OMG what a dump. The staff at the school has been cut back due to a smaller budget and the school grounds reflect it. I decided what the heck, if I am walking through there anyway I will just take a garbage bag and some gloves and pick up the trash on my way to workout. GEEZ...I ended with two huge bags of trash. All of this litter is generated by the high school kids....Is this how they were all raised? With a disregard for our enviroment? Mine were not! Anyway, as I continued to do this every day the amount decreased so I expanded my pickup area to include the track area. I was pleasantly suprised that several other runners, men and women, would gather up trash as they ran and would put it in my bag and would thank me for picking up the trash. They too were disgusted by the fact there are MANY garbage cans in the immediate area and people are just not using them. I have even gotten to the point where I will call someone out on it (in a nice way) and so far the response has been positive. It is a shame you have to throw it in some peoples faces in order for them to pick up their trash.

I don't think there is a justification. With cans so close, it is sad. You can only chalk it up to laziness. It is a real shame. I just try to set a better example for my daughter.
