Is anyone else tired of all the posts looking for referrals?

It doesn't seem like you can start a discussion that has anything at all with making extra money without getting blasted with posts sending you to their profile, or their blog, or their website to join all the programs where they want referrals. Many speak of making lots of money with their programs, but when asked, can't or won't tell you just how much they're making with any particular program. Despite the myLot guidelines, many continue to post direct links to their program referral pages. Is it possible to have less of these types of posts and more actual discussions?

I guess others are just tempted to do that because there are readers who are interested making money online. And since this is a hot topic (making money), more people would take the opportunity in promoting their programs, etc. By the way, I'm a newbie, but I haven't done this promoting posts. I don't think only newbies do this. It depends on the person really. Some are not just disciplined enought to follow rules. ;)

It makes you wonder if some of the "how to" sites are recommending these forums to obtain referrals.

I personally expect it. I do the same, but generally only when it seems appropriate, such as if people ask for sites or info or whatever. (I don't post links, but will refer people to my profile) The topic is "making extra money" after all... I also think it's annoying when people talk about how they make alot of money but won't let you know how much. Thats why I added a real-time updating banner of my earnings from one of my sites to my profile.

It doesnt violate any TOS to have referral links on your profile... if that changes, I will remove them. But like I said, I don't use links in discussions (they would just be removed anyway) and I only refer people to look at my profile if they are asking.

Check the myLot Guidelines - I believe you will find that it in the "Don't" list!

I recommend you just report them and move on. Eventually they will get the message. You are right, you should be able to have discussions about making money without having to deal with all the people who won't bother to read the guidelines about not posting links.

I know what you mean. It is bad that everyone seems to be selling something.....or some site. I think we all know that we can go to each person's profile and see their blog or website and see what they are doing. When I talk about something I am doing, ir I respond to a question, I don't even mention it. I just assume they will know where to look. But....there again, I don't believe that there are people making that large amount of maney they claim off the internet. If they were making that kind of money, they would be posting it and really bragging. I started out doing this as an experiment when I became disabled and still only make abut $50.00 a month. It is very hard to get referrals. I understand why they want them but they should sign up for one of those clubs or referral sites. Yahoo even has some groups that swap referrals. Then maybe this wouldn't happen.

Thank you very much for your response. I appreciate the relevance of your response to my question! I have no problem with people posting information about where to find their programs or where to sign up as their referrals - IF the person starting the discussion is requesting that information. I see way too many discussions, however, that go downhill fast into a mass of "see my profile" or "read my blog" posts aimed at getting referrals.

Yes, to a point I am sick of seeing them all . It seems more newbies testing the waters will do this . i have added friends who just spam me trying to get me to join something , that is what bothers me most .

I noticed one in particular that was a new member - every single post thus far (under 20 at this point) was promoting a "get rich quick" scheme.

Yes, as long as it is relevant to the discussion. I just have them look at my profile if they want links. I think the discussions are fine.

You shouldn't use referral links in response to a discussion because it is against myLot's guidelines.

I would love to be able to read a post without bumping into the affiliate link eye sores. I don't really mind it when someone tells me to check out their profile page on MyLot. Cause that's sort of a polite way of saying, "Hey look at my affiliate linkis and buy my stuff!" But the other link posting on discussions is not cool. And, it usually gets really good posts deleted. Maybe not now. But soon enough! And that means lost earnings for all.

Many of the threads I've participated in are from people looking for money making opportunitities. I'll often tell them what I'm involved with and see if any of those interest them. If they are interested, I send a friend request and links when it's accepted. I have noticed many new members leaving links in the threads, which of course leads to threads being deleted and members losing earnings. I purposely do not post into threads that have links in them, unless it's one of my myLot friends looking for an answer to a question (at least they can possible see the answer in their email) I have noticed an increase in threads in these catagories that have many responses that offer little ot no info.

I believe that you are approaching the situation appropriately by not imposing a lot of links on people who aren't interested in them, and keeping from having discussions deleted. I have, myself, posted discussions asking for information about whether or not a program is a good one, but have been inundated with posts sending me to their profile or blog to sign up instead of answering my question.

I don;t understand either why people are doing this even if they know the guidelines. Or maybe they are not reading what they suppose to do. I also wonder if maybe some of them just join here so that they can post their links and invited people to join them in their own business. They know that mylot is a growing community and they are maybe wondering why many are in here even if they are not earning much. With this idea they thought that they can lure mylotters to join a site which can pay much more than mylot. Well, I', tired of it too. I just ignore them, I usually don't reply specially if there is link on it.

Yaaaa.... well I agree with you. i mean it does get kind of annoying after a while, but, at the same time, it is fair for someone to have a link to their site if it is in context to the discussion and they have worked hard on it and it is a legitimate site. I had to find out the hard way that you cannot post direct links in responses. But anyways, like right now it would be totaly unessary to point you to my blog for no reason. (but you can check it out on my profile if you want lol) It is very irritating when people just flat out lie about a program just to get refferal and be selfish. so, I guess, it just depends to me.

I guess that is one advantage I have with being new, no one has sent me anything. I have just started here and have been reading about a lot of other sites that "pay" you do do something. There are a lot of bad ones out there. I have found 1 or 2 nice ones, don't really expect anything as far as making a lot on any of these, but if you find the right people to have some good discussions with that is all you can hope for. P.S. Check out my page at.........just kidding.
