What is wrong with our elected officials?

Does it seem that our elected officials live in another universe? They are completely out of touch with reality. I want to open a public discussion on the ways we can make our opinions known to those who are supposed to represent us. There is a huge disconnect between elected officials on all levels and thier constituents. Please join me in making a place where people can find the information they need to make a difference. A place where stories of indifference and outright criminal behaviour of our politicians can be brought to light and shared without fear of reprisal. I am fed up and I want to share experiences and resources with everyone who wants to make a cahnge. This is our country and we have a duty, a responsibility to act to insure that it is the America we inherited and not a socialist dictatorship.

I agree with you but the trouble is they are all the same, I think most of them are only in it for their egos and to line their own pockets, they get in and they lose all connection with the people, they don't have a clue, I know they can't please everyone but gee they should listen more and mix with the ordinary people...

I was on the sideline for a number of years. I would getmad and pull my hair out but do nothing but accept it as inevitable. You are right they are all the same, but that does net mean we don't have the power to change things. When I heard one of the presidential candidates talking about how high gas prices were a good thing I realized that my days of sitting on the porch were over. The are accountable to us. They are corrupt but they are not stupid. They understand that they need us to keep their power. They will listen if we can rally enough people to the cause. There are too many important issues that are being politicized to stand aroung. These issues, such as energy policy, affect your everyday life (have you noticed that with a rise in gas prices food cost have gone up, electricity has gone up, and alomst everything else). Don't be discouraged. You are not powerless but by yourself your voice is hard to hear. Gather up your friends and family and make your voice heard.
