I hate reformatting or in this case I finally bought a laptop. Starting fresh with a computer is always wicked. But then again it clearly sucks. I have a desktop computer full of movies, music, pictures and programs that I use day to day. So far I have been able to send all my files over MSN from my roommates account to my account on the new computer by zipping the folders I needed. I now have my laptop pretty much set up. But I'm looking for a good burning program, and a good photoshop one. I am currently using Vista. I have tried the samples that came with the computer but their nothing like I used to have. I figured I would look around because I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. For Photoshop I need the a program where I can crop. By crop I mean drag my mouse around a object. I don't like using just the square crop.Or I can't figure out how to find it in my program or use it or something. For the burning software I just need something that will burn movies and mp3 cds. Anyone with any tips for my new computer or information on Acer Laptops feel free to leave me a message. I'm new to this laptop business and Vista CRAP. Ha I don't like vista so far so hopefully you guys will help me learn to love it since I don't have much choice. Thanks a bunch.

For the burning program, i suggest CDBurnerXP. I think they have a version for vista. It's free, easy to use, and burns stuff really fast. For the photoshop-esque program, might I suggest GIMP? It's almost as advanced as photoshop, but it's free. I know a few digital artists (not professionals, but good ones) who use GIMP. You can crop and a whole lot more using it. If you're not into GIMP, you can take a look at Picasa or Photoscape. They're both good if you have a bunch of photos that you need to organize and do basic edits with.

Well there is a free photo editing program you can get called gimp I'm not sure what all you can do with it since I'm not into that stuff, but I hear it's a free version of photoshop but has a little more of a learning curve. As far as burning software I'm not sure what's good and free both. Sorry.
