His school report said he was "by no means a quick learner", but John Logie Baird grew up to invent the television!!! That certainly showed his teachers!. He unveiled his invention on 26th January in his workshop. Only 50 scientists witnessed it. I think viewing figures have gone up a bit since then!! JLB built his first TV from some odd items, including a wooden box, a biscuit tin, darning needles, string and wax! I think we use different items to make TV's today, don't you? I certainly learnt something reading this, did you?

I have heard about John Baird all my life as my mother was a Baird and I have two uncle John Bairds. I am not sure if we are descendents of his but as we all lived in Scotland it is possible.
