Does anyone know the meaning of BUX?

Philippines

There are so many sites named bux and I was wondering what the derivation was for this word. I have seen so many posts about how wonderful bux is and how much money they have made from clicking ads. I have seen an equally large number of posts too who say these are scams. What is a man to think? Are they legit or are they scams? I tried googling for the word bux and there is a mention of a Kuda Bux (ref.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuda_Bux) who appears to be a magician. Are these sites named after this magician?

I had hoped for something exotic about the origins of this word but it seems to me I won't be getting anything of that sort. Most of the responses have "bucks". Prosaic, but it makes sense. Cheers!!

Underdog, given that you have at least 1000 posts on myLot, I did not think you'd not know what the bux sites are? I have got some listed on my blog with a bit of info on them, the link is on my profile page. The word seems pretty self explanatory so your query should have been about what the sites do but then again, you can find this on the sites, no?:)

I think bux means "bucks". They sound alike but the spelling is different. There are many bux website on the internet today. Bux.to is one of them.

Bux is derived from the slang term "bucks," which (from my knowledge) is most commonly slang for the U.S. dollar. Most of these websites are scams, so exercise extreme caution and don't put any of your own money into it.

"bux" and "bucks" do sound the same and I think this is how the name came about as you pointed out. Someone could come and give a completely different meaning or origin but this sounds right.

I have also found that it is not easy money however, we just need to hope that it turns out not to be a scam. I doubt if they would really scam people knowing that it would mean the end of this kind of website and from what I could see, there seems to be more of them sprouting all over the place.
