whenever i used to start discussion with some one on deadly sins of bible... i would say whats the thing in eating more..... if i like something... i would obv. eat more!! what sense it makes... in going to hell... or being punished for it!! i would say... if i eat minimal... that doesn't lead to feeding a poor... he would still not be able to afford it!! so that doesn't makes any sense!! but always i used to hear this statement that was not at all pleasing... but still i couldn't question further... the statement being "ohk... i agree... but is eating more good for health... so probably to avoid diseases....." but tday morning i was reading the newspaper... and an article from some research centre in london!! it has now been proved that... it is not under the control of our brain to eat more/less!! actually it is controlled by a gene... that tells the body... the amount of calories it needs... and accordingly... the person eats!! reason leading to high obesity rates in US and Australia... as the gene releases more hormones for it in those areas!! so now it has been proofed that it is not under human control to stop gluttony :P so how can one claim it as a sin!! :O

What to talk of deadly sins,it is not a sin even.I donot know who has included it in the deadly sins.I am really astonished to see that the only unforgivable and most heinous sin is POLYTHEISM in the eyes of God Almighty but it is not included in the list of deadly sins.I donot know who has deleted it........No one likes to add it b/c most of them are polytheists,I think.

i refuse to belive that one cannot controll one self if one truly wants to and if as the bible tells us to do all things in moderation then since gluttony is not moderation then yes it is a sin just as is getting drunk!

Gluttony does not only apply to food. Gluttony applies to consuming or having too much of one thing. It's so of like greed, but you can be a glutton for power, pain, punishment, and lots of other things that begin with the letter 'p'. The instinct to eat and retain energy has been linked to our ancestors. Our ancestors were hunters and gatherers, and food was occasionally scarce. Therefore, when food was present, humans indulged and the body tried to hold on to the nutrients and energy for as long as possible. Of course there are genes that control metabolism and other health- and food-related topics, but that instinct to gorge during the good times comes with every human package. By the way, your arguments still leave much to be desired. You several lack coherence.

God has blessed us by filling the earth with foods that are delicious, nutritious, and even pleasurable. we should honor God's creation by enjoying these foods, and by eating them in appropriate quantities, while controlling our appetites, rather than allowing them to control us.
