I was with an extremely rich friend of mine. This man has all of the better things in life from the beautiful wife, wonderful children, expansive winter as well as summer home and several vacation properties, loads of money in the bank, etc… You know the type of person I am talking about this man and his family has it all. And before you think that it is inherited let me let you know it is not as his family, parents and siblings are constantly “hitting him up” for money. His parents were barely making it by his entire life as his father worked in a factory and his mother was a stay at home mom, so for him money did not come easily. He truly is a self made man. Well this man is here in Michigan at his “Summer” home and decided that we, his family and mine, needed to have some fun so we went camping to this wonderful site on Lake Michigan. Now this man you could never tell he has as much as he does since he dresses in blue jeans and tee shirts and swims in very loud swim trunks and drives a modest vehicle although he has many expensive ones. As we went camping he pitched a tent right along side ours’ rather than using an RV that he could easily afford. While we were at the camp site my friend decided that we should go out to eat, so off we went to a local restaurant. {don’t worry I am coming to the point} On our way into the restaurant my friend and I seen a penny on the ground, not wanting to embarrass myself I let it lay there, but my friend bent down and picked it up, looked at it a minute and put it in his pocket. Well me being ever inquisitive dwelled on this action as this guy could have replaced this penny with a hundred dollar bill and never missed it. So we had our dinner and left back to the camp site. Later that night at the camp site we were sitting around the fire and that damn penny bugged the hell out of me so I had to ask why he wasted his time to pick up the penny. He pulled the penny out of his pocket and gave me this explanation: “ See this penny (showing me the back) it is only one cent and virtually useless as there is nothing you can buy for a penny.” Then he flipped the penny over and said “See this penny, now this is a different penny and is worth all the money in the world.” I inquired as to why so he continued his explanation. “ See these words, ’IN GOD WE TRUST’, this reminds me all of the time to place my faith in GOD and things will work out. How do you think I have made all of my money? I used the gifts that God gave me and put my faith in him. So I will take a moment and pick up every discarded penny I see just to remind me to trust in GOD.” I thought about this for a minute and it seemed to make a lot of sense. So I left it as that as that was a hell of a lesson learned. So we began talking about other things As the fire was dying down my friend reverted back to the penny as apparently the lesson was not complete. He pulled the penny back out of his pocket and asked, “Do you all remember the lesson of this penny?” We all answered yes so he continued, “Well now that we covered the faith aspect we shall cover another. See this penny (showing me the back again) virtually useless as you cannot buy anything for a penny but….” he reached into his pocket and produced a hand full of pennies. “when you add the rest of these that I picked up tonight, you begin to amass a small fortune. Dozens of times I have paid for trips and such with peoples discarded pennies. I have paid for our campsite with pennies found.” This surprised all of us as this man is BRUTALLY HONEST so we had no reason not to believe him. So this trip brought us two pearls of wisdom for financial freedom being: 1- Always put your trust in GOD and 2- A penny saved is a penny earned Now I cannot pass up a discarded penny as I have learned the valuable lessons and I am already up to $1.54 in pennies picked up in two days. So I wanted to share this lesson with the rest of MyLot as thousands of people here type day and night for pennies yet they pass up the pennies laying on the street. So here is the pearls of wisdom for you to do with as you may. Have a wonderful day!!

That truly makes an impact and surely gives you not two but three lessons. One of course is to trust in god, the second is a penny saved a penny earned, but the third is to never judge by wealth. So many people see another with their designer clothing and think they are rich and snooty and even worse, that it was inherited. By this story you have shared that wealth is not only from familial means but also from hard work and dedication. I greatly appreciate this lesson, Have a wonderful day!
