Do you stop at the site of a accident and try to assist or just drive by and let the "other guy" do it?

This is kind of a difficult question to answer...I would say yes in a heartbeat if you could trust that someone really need your help, but there are so many people out there who take advantage of other peoples kindness. If I was in the city where there is a lot of traffic I would stop and ask out of my window with doors locked if they need me to call for help. But I live in a rural area and I have on occassion slowed down for parked cars on the side of the road to make sure no one was hurt or to ask if they need help, especially if I was alone. I never get out of my car and I would keep it in drive. Because there have been instances where people fake things to car jack or rob peole. How horrible is that that I as a concerned citizen has to take those kind of things into account? So, being a woman I am a bit cautious by this and am even cautious when it is another woman....because dishonest people do not have a specific gender. If it was an accident and I see someone slumped over. Again I would stay in my car and call 911. Sad isn't it how it comes to this.

If i was the first I would stop and assist. If there are other people already present , I would make a quick assessment to see if my help would be of any good, and then stop or go according to my assessment. Sometimes havind too many people around at a time can be detrimental as it cn lead to delayed decisions.
