I think that anything used incorrectly can be dangerous. Especially medications. I tried prescription diet pills that I got from a friend a bunch of years ago and didn't react well to them. They made me off the wall hyper! I took one at 6am and just kept moving all day. I collapsed at about midnight from exhaustion and slept for 2.5 hours. Then I got up and started cleaning the house. I tried it again for a few more days with the same results. The big kicker was when my boss asked me what I had taken as my pupils were the size of dinner plates and I couldn't be still. I just couldn't handle it. The problem is that I tried them on my own without doctor supervision. I think that if you need prescription diet pills, have your doctor prescribe them and monitor your response to them. I prefer over the counter pills. I don't suppose they are much safer if used incorrectly, but I feel safer taking them. Some of them make me a bit wired, but at least I can sleep for longer than 3 hours! The bottom line is, I believe that if you are dangerously overweight, and you know if you are, you should be under a doctor's care anyway. Your doctor will help you find the best and safest way to get yourself back to a healthy and safe weight for your body type and frame size.

i totally agree i think they have come along way nowadays as well with there research i think they are that scared of being sued they only prescribe when necessary i mean my sister in law is a UK size 30 and the doctor wouldn't give her any she`s now thinking of paying for a gastric band which i think could be more dangerous than diet pills i think the problem is thou the papers blow it out of all proportion and give everyone wrong idea about how they prescribe diet pills but more tests should be done on them before they put them on the market. :)
