Are MMORPG's these days too similar and outdated?? how should they be improved??

I am a big mmo fan and have tried out numberous online games. But, over time i happened to notice that majority of the mmorpg's that i play have too much similarity in gameplay, story line, theme and characters. Im not sure if everyone agrees to this. But does anyone think this is true or unless otherwise. I personally feel that they have to bring about some change soon or else the games are gonna loose theyre demand.
