When you're at your computer or keyboard, do you find yourself looking at the keys and doing the whole searching for the next letter, using your index fingers and pushing one at a time to spell a word? Or do you have some idea on why there's the raised lines on the "F" and "J" key and how the keyboard is set and can type by touch? I can type about 72 WPM, but I still find myself having to look at the keyboard for the numbers and symbols. Lately, I've noticed that I also move my hands much like a pianist. It's almost as if I'm making music when I type.

I am about half trained as a typist, I can actually type pretty quickly, but mostly need to look at the keyboard to do it. Which means that I can type out what I want to say about as quickly as I can think it, but I am not very good at copying a paper document.

hi kaeli! well i am pretty good at typing. especially with mere words. but i am having difficulty with numbers and symbols just like you. i am not sure what my rpm is as it varies from time to time but people say that i can type pretty fast. the problem is, the numbers... anyway, i don't normally use them that much so i guess it is okay. for my purposes. good day and God bless you! have a happy weekend! :) ps. i tried doing piano lessons, i wasn't successful...lol

Dear Kaeli72, I started my career as a Stenographer at the age of 18 and can type blindly all the keys of the typewriter including numbers and symbols. Now I am 62 years old. I know I can type more than 60 words per minute in Computer. For the last 30 years I am working as Accountant. Therefore I learned to type numbers without seeing the keyboard.

I know what you mean about looking at the keyboard for numbers and symbols. I have always had to do that, but when it comes to the letters on the keyboard I don't have to look down and it makes me able to type much faster. Have a great day!!

I can type really fast if I really wanted too, but I do find myself looking at the keys when I want to type extremely fast. This is where good spelling comes in hand. You have to know the next letter in the word and an idea to where it is located at to be able to type really fast whil still looking at the keys.

I leared how to type, just by typing. I haen't had to peck at the keys since I was a ery little girlo. In school I took a computer keyboarding class just because it was an easy credit. I already knew I was going to ace the ocurse, beore I even siged up. I there are typos in this it is because Ihave some deective keys on this old keyboard.
