Have you ever lost someone to AIDS?

A friend, relative, co-worker?
I lost my brother to AIDS in 1992. He caught it from an infected girlfriend. Have you ever known anyone with HIV/AIDS? Tell us your' story. Losing anyone is hard. Losing them to AIDS, because it's such a slow death made it harder for me. What about you?

I know two friends that have confessed to me personally that they have HIV. I'm sure that I have other friends, and I know other acquaintances that have been diagnosed.
One of my friends got diagnosed when she was 17, but she has never been sexually active. She went in with another friend who wanted to get tested and she got a horrible surprise. That terrified me when she found out because they're not sure how she got it.
