Are you a Skin White Paranoid?

One day at a beauty store close to where I am living at, I noticed that the merchandise displayed on the shelves were almost domineered by WHITENINGS. On TV and print, skin whitening ad predominantly gets several slots. Why are we trying to look Whiter than the natural color that we really have? Is it normal or already a paranoia? I used to be employed as a Political Researcher. My job required endurances of several hyperbolism that I might encounter. I always had time to visit hundreds of municipalities and project visits. When I had to do it, I had to endure the heat of the sun, or experience cyclones and typhoons regardless of location. In Manila I look like half-blooded Ilocana because I look lighter. But in a week stretch of provincial sorties my officemates will regard me as charcoal. I don't care. I have nothing to worry about how my skin turn out to be. I am flaunting my Filipina tan. I love copper colored skin. I am a Pocahontas wanna be. In the Philippines, skin whitening products from soap to LASER skin treatment emerges in the market. Why do we have to look like the unnatural us? I don't think it is normal at all to look pale-white like a "segunda" copy paper? From the shelves that I have scanned, I was annoyed looking for my childhood brand Dove that I couldn't find because what I have seen are the Whitening Brands. I grew up using Dove even if Dove is not our home-brand. With this brand lotion is not listed in my stuffs to buy at all because there is no need to wear lotion or cream. I feel like I already put on lotion. Would it be what we call a Pinoy thing to whiten like porcelain? We have no glacier or snow in our country. It's often hot in the country. Skin cancer causes Melonoma of the Skin or Cancer of the Skin. If you whiten your skin then go to Baguio, Tagaytay or Kidapawan City or go North or South Pole. It's dang hot even with your facial concealer on or foundation. Meaning using skin corrossive ingredient might harm our original skin tone. We are in the tropics. Hey, we are Filipinos, we are not Caucasians!!!

I also believe that, we have to be proud of for having a tan skin tone. Me also, i have a tan skin tone or should i say little bit "blacky"....my officemate commenting about me...LOL! Actually, everyday they always told me that i look like "Negrita" and they hurt me by saying that infront of my face eventhough they're kidding. But i love my skin because its a gift from God and i dont have to change my skin tone just to pleased other people. And i think, i look more prettier by having that. I remember our VP saying....foreigners love to see a woman having tan skin tone. My position to this matter is, "having a whiter skin is not a guarantee that you are beautiful, and having a tan skin tone is not a basis that you are ugly."

Yes, we have to be proud of how we look without alteration and aesthetic surgery. That hurts the diversity of our natural beauty. We must be proud that we breath. We have the confidence no matter how ugly should we become for others.
