Is the World a more frightening place

I am sitting here listening to the Radio this morning and it sounds like the World has gone to pot. Everyone seems to be terrified.
Is the World really a worse place than it was - personally I do not think so as I remember the street fights of the 1970s and 80s.
What do you think - is it sensationalism or reality?

Well, it's really turning more and more frightening! The world has become a dangerous place to live in. But thank God He is always around and will never forsake us.
