I love reading novels. Mine was Nicholas Sparks. All his novels are very touchy but I really don't like sad endings. But that was Nicholas Sparks known for. Some of his novels had been in the big screen like A Walk to Remember, Message in a Bottle and The Notebook. I just hope he can make one novel with a happy ending someday.

My favorite author would have to be John Grisham. Although Nicholas Sparks is not far behind him : )

Although Nicholas Sparks always make his novel a sad ending, I still admire him for the talent that he has to make a very nice love story.

My favorite author would have to be Stephen King. I have all his books, but a good author is one that can capture their readers from the very beginning. I enjoy reading anyone who will capture me on page one.

Yes, a very good author can capture their readers even on the title of their book. I just hope many new authors can do like that.

I have so many fave authors depending on what genre are we talking about. Almost every category of books, I have at least one or two or even more writers that I enjoy reading. Right now, I'm into paranormal romance, and the authors that are in my autobuy list would include JR Ward, Christine Feehan, Kresley Cole, Karen Marie Moning, Nalini Singh and Laurell K. Hamilton, to name a few.

I have not read any books by Nicholas Sparks but I don't think it is necessary for a book to have a happy ending to be enjoyable. I read many novels that don't end happily. I am enjoying some books by Elizabeth George. Most of them leave questions unanswered, or the truth of the story is finally revealed and it does not make the characters in the novel happy. I recently read a book by another author, and it had a beautiful ending which moved me to tears, not because it was sad but because it was so good in an unexpected way.

When I read such a sad ending, I also feel sad and made me cry. Yes its true that the story cannot be considered as a nice one based on their endings but the whole story in it. But I still preferred a happy ending like in the fairy tales. I want everyone in the story be happy. Thanks for the reply.

yes i agree Nicholas Sparks is a good writer minus those sad endings. I used to cry when i read them. However, Francine River's Redeeming Love had me crying page after page since the first chapter.
