Night Shift 2 promo : http://youtube.com/watch?v=TDuTCjdVOg0 Spoilers via LG2 www.liasonitesgathering2.yuku.com SoapNet Ready for Second Season of General Hospital: Night Shift By Lynda Hirsch -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SoapNet gears up for the second season of "General Hospital: Night Shift," the cable spinoff of "General Hospital." The 13-week series is set to air in July. Last year's plots paid no attention to what was happening on the dayshift. A character could be dying on the network version, and at night he was competing in a dance contest. When GH spun off "Port Charles," it did the same thing. Vampires could be roaming the north wing of the hospital, and in the south wing no one knew about it. "General Hospital: Night Shift" was the fifth-most-watched cable show for women 18-35, but viewers of both shows hated the separate but unequal plots. For the second season the show will focus on Robin (Kimberly McCullough) and Patrick (Jason Thompson). The two major actors from GH's good old days will be integral to the nighttime episodes. Tristan Rogers (Scorpio) is back. When Rogers came back to GH in 2004, his character was practically a cartoon that was searching for the cause of a deadly disease. This time around Rogers will have a potentially deadly disease. Robin, who had little contact with her dad, Scorpio, since she was a child, interacts as an independent daughter and physician who tries to save her dad's life. Antonio Sabato Jr., who played Jagger in the '90s, is set to return. As the brother of Robin's first love, Stone, he will have an impact on Patrick and Robin's rocky romance. Stone died of AIDS. After he died, Robin learned she had contracted the disease from him. "GH: Night Shift" will have the lush look of high definition. The first season is available on DVD. I can't wait for the second season. It will not be separate from GH, but actually a continuation. Which, to me is how a spin off should be Both need to coincide and make sense, This has the potentional of being really good. Any thoughts???

Hey coffebreak--just saw this. Nice to know I was missed. I had a very hectic summer. So glad it has almost come to an end. My 2 year old granddaughter had kidney surgery and is now recuperating very nicely. Then her mom (my daughter) had a gall bladder attack. Not good anytime, but especially not good when you are 7 months pregnant. She will need to have her gall bladder out as soon as the baby is born in October. So I have spent much of my summer worrying and babysitting her 3 kids. Thanks for caring. Keeping my eye always on GH though and the progressing (somewhat) Liason story!

I for one will be very glad that there will be better continuity of storylines. I also hope that nothing happens on Night Shift that will impact General Hospital too majorly since not everyone gets SoapNet and it wouldn't be fair to them to feel like they missed something important. So it needs to be self-contained but still true to the parent soap. Does that make sense? I can't wait! I also read that Dr Julian is being recast and the new actor is the brother of the previous actor. How cool is that?

I think many watched Night Shift thinking, of course, it was GH, just at night! But we didn't find until it was nearly ended that although the same characters, it was a totally differnet world! I'll watch it this year with a "seperate" mindset - A good way to do that is to think "I'm watching General HOSPITAL, not General Mob World!

I'm not interested in NIght SHift - was silly last season. But at least I now know what "high definition" is! I rememebr seeing the "odd" way the movie was delivered...for lack of technical way to put it. It was almost like piped in voices on very animated characters. Can't explain it, but I thought it was really weird - like they were tryuing to make a cartoon in 3-D.
