Is something wrong with me?

My Birthday is the 4th of July and I'll be turning 21. Where many want to go out and party and make a big fuss of their 21st birthday. I'm just the opposite. The extreme oposite. I just don't care that I'm going to be 21 soon. I just don't care. I don't want anything big or extreme for my birthday. All in all I just want to be left alone or just to spend the day with my family and my partner. I know it should be a big day but like I said. I. Don't. Care. Is something wrong with me?

well i'm too late but still - HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you! it's great to be able to make your own decision. not wanting to make a big deal out of it just shows that you are mature. thinking back, i did make a great deal of my 21st birthday. but looking back, i feel that it was just another birthday. something that happens every year. why do i want to celebrate it with friends or even mere acquaintances? i'd rather be with my family and my partner. good choice you've made. ;p

Nothing is wrong with you. When I was turning 21 my grandmother was deathly ill. And all I wanted was for her to be better. As long as you are happy that is all that matters. I think the big blow out 21 is just alot of hype.Live happy is more important than how big a party you have. Or how much you have to drink. You are fine the myth of ringing in 21 isn't for you. That's all.

I completely agree. Just being happy is all that matters.

There is nothing wrong with you, for my 21st I went to work and when I got home just spent time with my boyf! My 18th was the big one but my 21st wasn't as special as prehaps people make out. I'm now 29 and birthdays are just another day to my know probably because i've got a son and his bdays etc are far more important to me than my own. Maybe that sounds strange but its the way it is now. I'd rather have a nice relaxing day with my family and maybe have a couple of drinks. Anyway however you spend your day tomorrow havge a great birthday and enjoy it your way!!! Happy birthday for tomorrow xx

Hello kltten, Happy birthday, no there is nothing wrong with that I often like to be left alone and don't want much fuss,so I usually tell my friend if they want do something for me, just go out for a quiet drink in a quiet pub, thats all. Tamarafireheart.

lol My wonderful problem is I'm not fond of many liquors. I also have a slight fear that I'm allergic to a few so I stay away from them. But just going out for a slightly quiet evening sounds like a wonderful idea.

There is nothing wrong with you. It takes all kinds to make a world, and your friends, though they mean well, need to realize that a big party is not for you, and they need to respect this fact. You should do wha you are more comortable doing. It's the 4th of July, so there are plenty of opportunities for them to party.

Hi there! No, I don't think there is anything wrong with how you're feeling. Personally, I think it's normal for anybody to feel "blah" about something, like not throwing a party when everyone expects you to. If that's how you feel, then do what you think will make you happy. I've been in situations where I got to do what others expect me to even if I don't like it, and in the end I felt unhappy. So when I just followed my heart and do what I think will make me happy, that's when I truly felt good. I hope you have a very special day on your birthday today. I know no matter what you do, you will have a very memorable day (especially if spent with your family and loved one) Happy Birthday! XOXO

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I try to follow how I feel usually and today was pretty nice. I got to wake up without anyone bothering me. But right now I'm just wondering where everyone is. Oh well. lol

Happy Birthday! Your birthday should be whatever you want it to be. If you don't want a fuss, then thats as it should be. Only you can judge whether or not something is wrong in you life. I hope you have a great day.

Hey there. I have a birthday on the 8th of this month, and I too am turning 21. Yet for the most part, I don't really care about throwing any sort of huge celebration. For one thing, it'd be tough because all of my best friends are currently out of state; for another, I haven't really asked for anything particularly big or fancy this year. I'd just be happy if I had a nice, quiet, easy day where I could read and play with whatever I get present-wise in peace. So no; you're not alone, and nothing's wrong with you.

At least I know I'm not the only one. My partner was the same way if I remember right for her 21st birthday. I just get tired that I have people making a huge fuss over it.
