Emotional crackdowns and life

Some years before around 16 years I have experienced emotional crackdowns, after the death of my drandfather. He loved me a lot, and before death, he hold my hands with his hands. Those memories led me to think about life and vagueness, existential dilema and all those kinds of stuff. That time was very horrible.
Do you have any such experience like emotional upset or so ? Please share your views and why it is happening ?
