Do you find Twilight overrated?

Or is it just me? I have friends who just go on and on and on about Twilight and uh, Edward Cullen in particular. When I finally decided to pick up the books though I was very disappointed, especially with how much of it was about Edward and Bella obsessing over each other and all the descriptions of how good looking Edward is. No offense to those who do like that stuff of course. So I was wondering, does anyone else think that way? Or do you disagree? I would love to hear all your opinions. :)

Edward Cullen is a macho man, obsessive ans selfish. Bella is submissive, boring and contradictory. I don't see any true love between them.

I thought it was a bit far-fetched but hey it IS a FICTIONAL book what do you expect? I loved the whole series. And Edward Cullen is very beautiful he SHOULD get the attention lol.

When I read the book I had never heard of it and didn't know anything about the hype surrounding it. I love vampire books so a friend told me to read it and I truely thought is was a great book. I'm a huge fan of Anne Rice's vampires so I wasn't sure how I was goin to like Meyer's version but I thought it was really well done. I also thought the relationship between Bella and Edward was really sweet and it is one of my favorite love stories.

I completely agree with you. Twilight and Edward Cullen are quite overrated. Stephenie Meyer's writing isn't in the least compelling, it's amature work to tell you the truth. In my opinion, these ''books'' are just a cheap way in disguise to create a phenomenon that would bring about millions of dollars and make a teen heartthrob out of some pretty boy with no talent who was prior to today a virtual unknown.
