What is the best way to teach a dog to fetch?

my shephard does not like to play with any ball.when i throw the ball, she sniffs around at it and then comes running back for the treat. she doesn't like tuggies, or queekies. is there any hope???? she's really active and i'd like to find an easy way to exercise her . . . thanks!!

hi friend. it can not be that shephards dont like ball. like labs love food shephards love ball. they even leave food just for ball. well theres always some hope of positive think positive. you must throw ball. and if she sniffs back . dont give her treatr. rather slap slowly and say bad. then move to ball throw in any other direction. if she again does like before again dont give her treat. according to your problem you may have to try this method atleatt 1-2 days. then she will come to know that my owner doesnt give me treat till i dont bring ball. and then she will do. my lab also had same problem. then i tried this method and it worked. i have even trained him for bringing news paper. well best of luck . have a great day.
