Electrical Saver or A Power Saver

I have heard that power savers are of no use.
Companies give lot of adv.on paper,tv.
Infact Telebrand is marketing this type of product.some technical persons say it doesnt save any electricity.
Do You have any more ideas on the above product.

As of now, I haven't really seen a power saving device that is really working and which can really cut down electricity costs. If there was any, it would have been in lots and lots of people's homes. 
I cannot remember clearly but some of the tech experts say that it doesn't actually cut down the electricity and most only act as surge protectors and such and some don't even have a use. I've yet to see one that's working. A TV show last sunday here, exposed these power saving devices and proved that it doesn't help. The poor users didn't expect it. When they got their bills, the charges almost doubled.
Well, they used more electricity thinking the device was saving them some. So, just a heads up, as we try to look for one that actually works and is proven to really lessen consumption, let's do the old way of turning them off. Timers are more effective than these devices as of now. Who knows? maybe someone could pull it off anytime soon.
