As a student I was encouraged to read all kind of books both at home as well as in school. In fact we had a library in school with all kind of books - even romantic stories. We had to take books regularly and read them.

I had encouraged both my kids also to read books and I would make sure I would buy some books for them to read during their vacations. On sundays too I would buy them comics.

Well! whats wrong in reading novels.. it is good to read novel.. it helps in improving your language and communication skills... So not allowing studen tto read anything out of textbooks is very bad... No one stopped me from reading any books.. but i dint like to read many books.. maybe one book in a month.. thats it.. not much...

My teacher of junior high school ,didn't permit the students to read novels.but the score of the study was the Number One of the school forever.

I think its good if you read more good literature, good books under guidance. While we are still kids we do not have the ability to judge good or bad books. For that reason school library and teachers are helpful. Reading is always good for are interactive skills. Thanks.

sometimes the teacher just want the students to read his subject books. If the school have a comprehensive teacher,it will helpful for students.
