when you were a student, were you allowed to read books that out off textbook?

when i was a student.my teacher and my father not allowed me to read novel that out off textbook. dou you think that is right or wrong? why you think that?

Well! whats wrong in reading novels.. it is good to read novel.. it helps in improving your language and communication skills...
So not allowing studen tto read anything out of textbooks is very bad...
No one stopped me from reading any books.. but i dint like to read many books.. maybe one book in a month.. thats it.. not much...

I think its good if you read more good literature, good books under guidance. While we are still kids we do not have the ability to judge good or bad books. For that reason school library and teachers are helpful.
Reading is always good for are interactive skills.
