i dont know about you but when i enter in my password and i feel like i may have hit the wrong keys it irks me that it shows ****** instead of my actual password.. i know this is a security measure but instead of wanting to chance it i end up retyping it that way i can save it in my browser.. where as if i could see it it would save me some time.. like i said i know its best and for security but doesnt it irritate you at some times?? especially when you hit to save the password and its wrong!!

Yes its a good idea to see your password while your typing, but for me I prefer to see an asterisk rather than the real password itself. I like to be more private on my stuff and sometimes while I'm accessing a certain website with my friends I don't want them to see my password while I'm typing. Maybe web browsers should put an option on whether how you want to see you password while typing. For us its more flexible right?

well my pc is totally mine and at most my best friend might use it and she knows almost all my passwords as is and i trust her.. my hubby knows my passwords or at least he should but he doesnt touch my pc and its at home and i dont have any visitors that come and use it.. if it would just show it the first time before it saves it that would make me happy

the '1' key on my keyboard sometimes seems to double-tap, which is irritating, but: a) If you type it wrong, you get another go b) I can usually tell by the number of *'s if thats the case. As to the issue of forgetting them, at present i have around 70 different codes and passwords to remember, but i have a pretty good memory ;) Also if its a forum password and you forget, you can always request ti to be reset.

well i have long passwords so its annoying to recount.. and my old firefox would save whatever you put in first and i couldlnt change it later.. and ugh i hate asking for them to resend passwords since i have had a few places that took a few days to get them to me when i needed it at that moment.. either that or my gmail is eating them lol..

yeah let me know and that is the perfect example of what i meant.. that way you can see that you are putting it in right but still have some security still.. does it work with firefox 3.0

you were the only one that understood the concept of the whole being able to see passwords but not being slap happy as far as security.. i guess i worded the whole thing badly..

I SO agree with you! I have noticed on some of the programs that I use and some of the sights I use that they give me the option of actually showing me the password symbols as I enter them and I like this feature.

to me if your at home then you can make sure you are secure from others seeing it as in in real life.. if some one wants your pw that bad they can always put a key stroke recorder on your pc and then you are screwed!

When in doubt as to what I typed, I just erase what I entered & reenter password.

hi moonlitmagikchild! its perfectly fine for me. i think it would be better that way. there are always danger that someone might see our password as we type it. like for example, if we are using a computer in an internet shop or somewhere public, someone might take a look (accidentally) to the computer we are using and they might caught a glance of our password. and it poses a risk if some other people knows our password. if i made a mistake in typing it, there's always the chance of typing the correct one the next time right?

Nah, I don't think it would be nice lol. Passwords are hidden because you don't want people to look at them. But if you are always alone - as in no one will ever see you typing your passwords - then it is ok. I have come across Firefox extensions and programs (free) that show the passwords the way you are wanting. If you want it, try searching for them - I know I have come across them before.

It is annoying sometimes when you are typing a long password and it is hard to know if you type a wrong key or when it say that you have typed the wrong password, I would like to see my password instead the asterisks, I do something when I am not sure if I am tying right the password, I type it first in other part, sometimes on the field for the internet address or sometimes on notepad and then i copy and paste the password on the text box, so that way I can know what I type, I didn't use much the feature of remember the password but now when my web browser popup me asking me for remember it, I usually choose yes.

well if you have firefox use the extension link that the person with best response left.. it makes it to where you can see them.. i figure i will put in all my passwords to sites adn when i think i have them all saved i will just uninstall the extension to where my pc is safe.. or i can just disable it etc

I agree with you on it should show us what we are typing. It isn't like someone is standing over my shoulder and watching me. And even if someone did, it would be my daughter and what is she going to do. Cheat me. I don't think so. I know sometimes I don't know if I touched a wrong key when typing and I have to do it again when it won't log me in. If it showed what I was typing I would see right away and fix it, but since it doesn't I have to try again if I typed in something wrong. It does get me mad sometimes but usually it doesn't bother me. I don't sweat the small stuff and that is a small stuff.

i wouldnt care if i wasnt on very many sites but im a part of like over a 100 that most i go 1 a month but about 20 a few times a day so i have plenty of times to keep hitting the wrong buttons lol.. and i tend to make them long so that doesnt help

Here's a thought if it bothers you. Type your password in something like word or textpad. Highlight it, or hit ctrl+A Hit Ctrl+C Switch to where you need your password, and make sure the cursor is in the password box. Hit Ctrl+v That will let you see your password as you type it, and then copy it into the password box.

yeah i thought about that lol.. i got that add on now so its not a big deal.. that and firefox 3 actually lets you see if the password goes through before you can hit to save it which helps alot

yeah, sometimes it's a little bit irritating. i am annoyed why they use ****** instead of ######## just kidding. i hardly hit the enter button once i type it. i always doubt if i have typed the right letter, so i also end up retyping it...more slowly to make sure that i type the right letters. to save time, i usually use the some user name and password for the sites which don't involve money or earning in participating on. it's also a way to exercise my memory.

It's for security measure and for our own safety and peace of mind. So why bother about this. Yes sometime it's irritating, particularly when you type wrong one and retype again.

well the reason i even started this discussion was because i was using firefox 2.0 and any time i saved a password if it was wrong i would go delete it but it wouldnt try to save the new one so i have a ton of sites that had the wrong passwords saved and i would think that i corrected them etc.. and i have been locked out before and then the site take days to message me the reset password thing.. i think it should be an option to see if before i save it.. then after its saved it doesnt show or something.. they already have the master password thing so it wouldnt be much different.. but firefox has been better on 3.0 so maybe i wont have to deal with it anymore

The *****'s prevent people from seeing what your typing, which is bad, and if you copy and paste your password the ******'s mess it up so no one can break into your account. Feeling like you hit the wrong keys is a small price for security. =)

well i mean not to be shown if you dont want it to but to have it as at least an option on your internet browser.. that way when you are saving your passwords you know you at least entered it right before it saves it then have it not show it again..

That is one function I would not like to be changed. It is for my protection. If I was to unintentionally leave my computer screen available to prying eyes I would certainly not like them to be able to read any of my passwords.

well i would want it to where you can enter it and see it then you could save it and it not show it again when it logs you on.. or heck not turn it on at all and leave it to the ** like it is but i think it would be nice to have the option other than the master password thing

Oh yes! I agree, it's so annoying, especially when I am sure that I'm typing the right keys. grr.. It would be so much easier if it did show what we are typing. Especially on certain sites that only allow so many tries before locking you out for a certain time period. That is super annoying. LOL Oh, and myspace--a lot of times I literally have to enter my password over and over before it logs me in, sometimes I log into my music myspace then log out and log into my personal one and bam, it finally accepts it. So yea, passwords are very important, but can be annoying. LOL

It's been setup that way purely for security reasons. In places where security is not so important, we have a remember password option. But in high security sites like banking sites or paypal accounts, you won't have the remember password option. I guess taking that extra pain to be safe is acceptable lest you want to find your hard-earned income cleaned off in one day.

I like it. I have really snoopy parents and friends and it's easier to hide what you're typing when it doesn't show on the screen. Sometimes I type it in wrong, but that doesn't really destroy my day or anything; I just type it in again. No big deal. I think that the security would be very important in a work place. I think that maybe it should be optional, so you can turn it on and off at will. That way, everyones happy. Yay! :)

maybe it only bothers me because i like log in to like at least 20 websites a day multiple times so some of them
