How did you select your kids' names?

One of the highlights of having kids is choosing their names. My daughters' names are Jordan and Riley. I wanted androgynous names that were easy to spell, not too long, and had a "strong" sound to them. Though both have since become more popular, at the time I chose them they were both relatively uncommon as well. We also considered Lindsay, Ryan, and Toby. How did you choose your childrens' names? What other names did you consider? What are your favorite names now, or what unusual names have you heard?

My fathers name was KIRAN and he expired just a few months before marriage and I was very attached to him. So what I did was I named my son KARAN which sounds like my fathers name. I did so because we do remember my dad whenever I call my son by his name.

I like both of those names; is the accent on the first syllable? It is a nice tribute, I think, to pass a family name along. My daughters' middle names are Leslye and Lesvia, after my mother. The "Lesvia" was kind of a happy coincidence, though...Riley is adopted and Lesvia was her birth name. I looked at your picture; you have a beautiful family.
