The crule things hackers can do..what would you do if?

Someone hacked into a few of your social sites and told everyone you were dead?
Well this just happend to a friend of mine. We got word Tuesday that she and her youngest daughter had died in a car wreck and that her oldest daughter was with family memebers. All of us were just so upset. Then the person who told us said well if you would like to send flowers or anything for the oldest girl here is the paypal address for her brother. So we did what we could as this was a good friend of ours.
Then yesterday I get online and was told she is alive,of course I was floored. I went to where she was and heard her on cam and seen her!
She explained that she had been away camping and came home to find in her email money being put into her paypal with comments such as "We miss our dear friend"
She was shocked and so upset. They were unable to hack into her paypal and she sent the money back. Now what would you do if someone hacked you and told all your friends this? I mean why do people do these things?

People do things to get money. It's just the way it is. It doesn't make it right, but I think that the best thing you can do is adjust and realize people are not nice.

Probably not a ton. I probably wouldn't use myspace or whatever.

I don't think the hacker did it for money. If it was really the case, the hacker would just have provided a paypal address that he/she could have access to. The hacker WANTED the money to be sent to her Paypal. It was a case of an attempt to make her as upset as possible, and give her as much trouble as possible. I wouldn't be surprised if the hacker turned out to be someone who knew her in real life and was out for revenge. The way the act was orchestrated so it happened during her camping trip would lead me to believe tis as well.

Some people will do anything to make money, leats they didn't manage to et any cash out of this horrible scam.

True they didn't get any money out of it at all,so in the end it was a blessing in a way but I am still worried for my friend and how she will deal with this.

I just don't see how somethign liek this is fun but then again i am not a hacker. as far as typos trust me it is ok lol I am queen of them
