A friend of mine called the other day and asked me if I thought she was in the right. She told me it concerned her daughter and she felt bad but she knew she was doing the right thing. Her daughter April is eight years old and she asked her mom if she could start wearing makeup. All her girlfriends were wearing it and she felt like she was rhe odd girl out. Her mom told her no that eight was way to young. Just because her friends were wearing didnt mean she needed to. She tried to explain to her that makeup was for when she was older and that she should just enjoy being a kid. Well she said she came home from work early the other day and found April in the bathroom scrubbing her face. When she confronted her she was honest and said she had bought some stuff with her allowance and was putting it on at school and washing it off before her mom got home. Well she was grounded and had some of her privalages taken away. Then she started going through her backpack and purse and checking her face before she left. After about two weeks of this she told her mom she would wait on wearing makeup that it just wasnt worth the hassle. I told her that she did do the right thing because her daughter is way to young for makeup. She should enjoy being a kid and try to become a adult overnight. So what is opinion, how young is to young for girls to wear makeup.

kudo's to your friend. I wish more adults would do this. Kids aren't kids anymore. When we got my 8 year step daughter years ago I had to teach her to be a kid again because her mom allowed her and her sisters to roam the streets and do what and where what ever they wanted. Kids need to be a kid that time in life is so precious and now days because parents don't want to stand up to the kids when they are pitchin their fits or whinning or if the kids are sneaky parents don't ground or whatever. Now days 11 and 12 year olds are prego which is sad. What are these parents thinking not setting up rules and things. Just because everyone elses kids are letting their kids do it does't make it right my thing is if you don't set rules for your kids and stick with them you really don't love them.
