Hi there! I try to read a lot and when I read I have a dictionary beside me so that I can check words that I don't know its meaning. I believe thats one way of improving one's vocabulary. I am also fond of answering crossword puzzles. I have lots of them and every night before going to bed I try to answer some until I would fell asleep. I also write a lot. Like what we do here in mylot. This is one of improving one's vocabulary. It helps when you are able to express your thoughts and put it into writings. And this is what I love about mylotting. I am able to write and express myself. Ciao!

hi makaira! i read a lot of English materials to improve my vocabulary. from pocket books to newspapers to magazines. if i come across a word that i don't know the meaning, i would look for its meaning in the dictionary or in the internet. reading alone can improve one's vocabulary. but watching a lot of English shows can improve the vocabulary too. that's why i watch a lot of hollywood tv shows and movies.

Yes, reading a dictionary does help, and there are other ways to learn how to improve your vocabulary. What I used to do and I am still doing it until now is that I read English magazines, novels, newspapers, and anything that I can get my hands on. While reading I have with me a dictionary so that anytime I encounter a word that I do not understand I look it up in the dictionary. In this new age and technology you have the power of networking, the power of the Internet so use it to its full extent. Browse sites that help you improve your vocabulary and join forums and discussions like mylot to put what you've learned into good use.
