Is anyone a chronic "self-diagnoser"?

I have a really bad habit of researching even the smallest symptom on the internet. Most times I dismiss it as nothing, but other times I get paranoid I have some mysterious disease. It's a little ridiculous, but at least I can admit it. Anyone else here have this same "problem"?

I used to be like that quite a bit...but for whatever reason not so much now. Maybe I am too busy with other things? Or maybe I've just been healthy lately! I always research everything online though - I don't trust too many doctors.

I research pretty much everything online, from health reasons to the best paper shredder to buy (this weeks big topic haha). But I'll agree, I don't trust doctors anymore. I never used to research health issues online until I started having them about 2 years ago. It wasn't till after I saw several doctors who either didn't care, or didn't try very hard to help that I turned to "self-diagnosing" and even that hasn't turned out an answer for me. Very frustrating.

God yeah, I'm exactly like that! I thought it was just me, haha. I think it's probably because It's easier than going to the Doctors all the time!

My daughter is like you. She is always researching illness' on the internet and self diagnosing, then she thinks she has a terrible disease. Her doctor told her to quit looking things up in the internet.

Spot on my friend! Yes, I do have a habit of researching the internet if I feel something different. There were a couple of occasions I remember clearly. One was when I had a very rough and heavy chest pain. I really though that it was a heart attack. Thank God it wasn't. Next was about a month ago, while I was doing my regular aerobics, my knee suddenly got real painful and I had a hard time walking, and most especially going up or down the stairs. I had a hard time diagnosing what it is though as most of the time, I get tons of results. I just tend to try and find out what the symptom is. But as much as possible, I go to the doctor immediately. I really fell better afterwards after I meet them. Take care.
