Some years ago, I traveled to Bataan, the site of the historical Death March, by sea. There was a typhoon then and the ship's captain that there was an option not to come if somebody has problem with sea sickness. I was with some tourists and businessmen. Some chosed not to come but many stayed and went on with the trip. When we were at sea, wer started to experience the storm firsthand. Our vessel was being swayed on every direction in 45 min trip. All the passengers are throwing up. I tried to control my stomach but in after sometime, I strted to fell dizzy and want to throw up. At that point, I just closed my eyes and meditate. I survived the trip almost throwing up. Have you experienced sea sickness?

it was 1992 when i went to our province to attend the burial of my grandfather, unfortunately, there was this typhoon crossing the island of mindoro. the ship hide in between the mountains but the blazing storm with its fury thunder and hustling winds swing the ship like hell. we stayed in the sea two nights that supposed to be one only. every one was in panic, water came inside and we were all throwing up, the worst part is that i don,t have a companion. we all prayed that the storm will end, and at dawn, the fury subsided, but there was this lady who lost her sanity because of the fear, maybe she had a nervous breakdown.i don't want to experience that anymore. it's really frightening.

Although I so love and deeply adore the beauty of the sea, I would like to confess that I dread traveling in the sea. Just the thought of being in the middle of the sea is already scary to me. However, last summer we had a company outing and my Boss chose to do it at Puerto Galera. I refused to join of course because that would mean riding the ferry boat that will bring us to the place. But my son and my husband were all very excited because all families of the staff were allowed to go. As I would not want my family to get frustrated, I consented and braved the sea. Then came the dreaded day. As we arrived in the pier I was really keeping my fear from every one as I would not want them to make fun of me. Only my husband could notice a bit but still I was putting on a brave countenance. Then came the boarding then on we traveled through the sea. Oh my God!!! That sea experience was to me so terrifying! The sight of big, big body of water all around me and seemed ready to swallow me at any time was so frightening that I could hardly handle so I just closed my eyes all through the travel. The impact of the waves that rocked the boat at many times caused me to shrink in my seat but I was just quiet and was praying all through the travel without all my companions noticing. All the rest of the passengers were however even enjoying the waves even if there were times the waves would go overboard and those near the windows got all wet, but still they were all screaming with joy and having fun. "Oh No, what kind of person am I, why it seems I am the only one scared?" I repeatedly asked myself. Then finally we reached the destination and there and then I screamed. " Hurray I survive!" Then all my companions laughed so loud with my reaction. Well, the return trip was even more scary for me for it was done during the night. But all through the fears and all through the fast beating of my heart, my prayers would always calm me and I so thankful was I to the Lord for comforting me during those moments. Until finally we arrived back safely and sound. "Thank you dear God, Thank you very much!" That was all that I could utter and very sincere at that! Then I swore to myself, I will never, ever go for this kind of trip again!!!

You have already conquered your fear in a way. It was your first step. I hope you will be more relaxed next time you traveled by sea.

Wow, that is quite a story about being in the ocean during a typhoon! Very exciting! I, too, have experienced seasickness. It was just overwhelming. I was on a deep-sea fishing tour in the Gulf of Mexico several years ago. The boat drove far out from the shore for about 2 hours, then dropped anchor. As soon as the anchor dropped and we stopped moving forward, the boat began to rock alot. I just got sicker and sicker, until finally, I vomited. It was horrible. I was very sick and I tried everything to feel better. I sat down, stood up, laid down. I drank water, I stopped drinking water, I walked the galley. Someone suggested I go downstairs in the boat and lie down. I did this, but I still stayed quite sick. What is fascinating is that, as soon as they pulled up the anchor and started moving forward again, my stomach stopped hurting. I was never so glad to see land again in all my life!
