Plastic Grocery bags

Why do grocery stores pack only a few items in a plastic bag? I buy about 15-20 items and leave with about 8 plastic grocery bags. If I packed it myself I would be leaving with 2 bags. Does this happen to you?

I know that at the Wal-Mart, they are instructed to load bags in a certain way... wet stuff, cold stuff, dry stuff... etc. I've been told that they are instructed to pack chicken separately... period! It is a food-safety thing, and product safety. You wouldn't want a bottle of milk leaking all over your electronics, now would you?

No, it doesn't. Baggers at grocery stores here smart when it comes to packing. For them, the less they use plastic bags that is enough for the groceries, the better...
