I am researching ways to keep birds out of my gardens. I don't mind that they eat bugs, but they are also eating all of the cherries from my cherrie trees. How do you keep birds out of your gardens?

Atually, I don't agree with you at all. The birds are eating all the cherries from my trees, literally all of them. Which means they are destroying my entire crop. I send my turkeys (who can't fly very high) in to eat the bugs on the bark and in the grass, but I don't need birds flying off with my crop. I grow them to sell at the farmer's market.

you can try using the birds natural enemies that you can place in and around your cherry trees. when i used to be a roofer in California, we would always find rubber snakes on the roofs. these were placed there to keep the pigeons away. a couple of life size plastic owls might be effective too and might look kind of nice sitting in your cherry trees.

Whenever my husband gets those stupid free AOL CDs he ties strings to them, and hangs them from trees in he garden. The birds are scared of by their own reflections. Another friend of mine hung a garbage ca lid from a tree, and wen he hears birds, he pulls a string in he window causing somethig to hit the can lid and make a really loud noise.

I hang plastic owls in my cherry tree, and tie long plastic ribbons to the branches. The birds stay away!
